Did you know Google, Amazon, Microsoft… Decathlon, all use the same goal-setting framework? It’s called OKRs (Objectives and Key Results).
I’m a big believer in OKRs for team goal setting. I’ve implemented them in all my projects for the last 8 years.
Why I ❤️ OKRs:
🔷 1. INSPIRING GOALS:
I truly believe that providing a team with a simple, but ambitious and inspiring goal is a top priority for any leader.
🔷 2. UNITED FOCUS:
The next step is to unite the team’s energy and focus to direct them towards the goals. Each team member should feel a sense of purpose and contribution to something significant.
🔷 3. MEASURABLE PROGRESS:
Clear metrics keep everyone on track and allow you to celebrate progress along the way.
OKRs are easy to understand but can be tricky to implement. However, the payoff is HUGE!
I had some fun and in the picture below, I’ve tried to imagine what an OKR could be for the FC Barcelona team and how it could be interconnected for its team members. I hope this example will help to understand the OKR’s power.
