Team focus in a chaotic world – how?
I’m not alone in this…just yesterday, another Decathlon team lead and I were chatting by the coffee machine about how hard it is for our teams to stay focused. Emails, meetings and distractions are everywhere!
How do we get everyone focused on what REALLY matters?
Here’s my starter list:
🔹 LEADER CLARITY: We MUST clearly communicate priorities.
🔹 OKRs: Objectives & Key Results (if implemented and used well) can be a powerful team focus tool.
🔹 PRIORITIZATION: Help your people set individual priorities to protect time for what’s most critical.
🔹 CALENDAR TIME BLOCKING: Know your priorities? BLOCK time to work on them.
🔹 TEAM CULTURE of SAYING NO: Empower people to politely decline unnecessary distractions to reclaim valuable time.
🔹 FOCUS ON A SINGLE TASK: Deep work when possible – avoid multitasking for true flow.
🔹 CELEBRATE SMALL WINS: Keep motivation and spirit high to build positive momentum.
